Sanjay is from a village in Southern India. His family lives below the poverty line and struggles to find good paying jobs because they are Dalit, the lowest caste of people. His father works as a driver. Many children in his village leave school due to the lack of funds and work with their parents. Sanjay likes to study Tamil and English and he enjoys playing cricket and reading in his free time. He dreams of becoming a police officer.
The Dalit are among the most uneducated in India. Only 38.5% of them are literate. Sanjay is well on his way to beating the statistic. He will be starting his third year of primary school this June when we raise his $175 tuition fee. Would you be willing to contribute?
